PROJECT MUSIC staff travel as Global Leaders

Of the 34 musicians accepted into the 2016-2017 cohort of YOA’s Global Leaders Program, two are drawn from the staff of PROJECT MUSIC. Ian Taylor and Julie Lee serve PROJECT MUSIC as Coordinator and Flute Teaching Artist, respectively, and will represent the YOA program abroad as global ambassadors for the power of music education to change young lives. Through these Global Leaders Missions, Taylor and Lee share their expertise as musicians and educators with partner organizations in diverse communities around the world. Mr. Taylor is recently returned from a tour of Chile, where he assisted in the production of two week-long music camps for disadvantaged youth, in the communities of La Serena and Panguipulli. “This alliance is a great opportunity for the 130 children and 14 teachers of the Vive la Música program who will share experiences with musicians from different countries. The GLP Mission supports the mission of Vive La Música, which is to help build values, social skills and intellectual competencies in children and young people through music,” said Pamela Calsow, Director of the Panguipulli organization. Upcoming missions will send Taylor and Lee to programs in Puerto Rico, Bolivia, and the US Virgin Islands.
