Giving Tuesday

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together across the globe. We hope that you will consider Project Music in your giving and help us continue to make a positive change in the lives of the children of Stamford through music education.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Our ongoing goal to make music culturally relevant and expose our students to diverse musical genres continues with with our ensembles, using the theme of Hispanic Heritage Month as our guide.  The holiday is recognized in the USA from September 15 – October 15, paying tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society.  Project Music music students, many who themselves identify as Hispanic, spent the first two months of the school year learning to play and understand various pieces of music representative of Hispanic culture. For this live-streamed concert on October 30th at 7:00PM, selections are drawn from various traditions, ranging from a traditional Mexican jarabe and Peruvian marinera to popular Hispanic songs of the modern era. We hope that you’ll be able to join us.

Playing for our Future

On August 18th we live-streamed our first-ever virtual concert and fundraiser to honor our founding board members and Joyce DiCamillo, Christel Truglia & Mort Lowenthal. The event was a smashing success and included exciting performances from local bands and Project Music students and staff.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated and supported us to keep the music playing for our amazing students. It shows them that their community cares about them and allows us to support our teaching artists and staff with more professional development.  It also allows us to provide emergency relief for our families to help with Basic Necessities.
