Garrett Mendez, Artistic Director of Project Music, Nominated for El Sistema USA Board of Directors
We are thrilled to announce that Garrett Mendez, our Co-Founder and Artistic Director, has been nominated to serve on the Board of Directors of El Sistema USA, a national membership organization dedicated to strengthening the field of music education. El Sistema USA supports a network of over 140 member programs nationwide, serving 6,000 teaching artists and 25,000+ students. Their programming provides leadership and resources through staff professional development, advocacy, and student learning and leadership initiatives.
This nomination marks a significant opportunity for Project Music, as Garrett’s leadership and commitment to accessible, transformative music education will further strengthen our connection with the El Sistema community.
In addition to his role at Project Music, Garrett Mendez serves as Director of Performing Arts at King School in Stamford, CT, where Project Music’s premier after-school site is based. “As the founder, Garrett’s vision and unwavering dedication have transformed Project Music into a thriving after-school program that offers high-quality music education to young musicians. His leadership has established a space where students not only develop their musical talents but also grow as individuals, empowered to become agents of change in their communities.
