Harmonizing for a Cause: Spreading Holiday Joy through Leadership
This holiday season, Logan McIntyre, a dedicated Project Music volunteer and talented saxophonist, showcased the power of youth leadership and music education. A student at Darien High School, Logan collaborated with his school’s esteemed music program and the Tri-M Music Honor Society, led by Director Jane Minnis, to raise funds and awareness for Project Music. As Darien’s Tri-M’s student president, Logan decided to use this holiday season as an opportunity to spread holiday joy and benefit Project Music.
Tri-M, which stands for “Modern Music Masters,” is the National Association for Music Education’s honor society for middle and high school students. It recognizes students for their musical achievements, academic excellence, and commitment to community service. Tri-M fosters a deeper connection between music and leadership, empowering students to use their talents to make a positive impact.
Through a series of holiday volunteering efforts, including caroling and community outreach, Logan inspired his peers to join in support of Project Music’s mission: developing the next generation of change-makers through music. These efforts not only brightened the holidays for their community but also helped provide a $550 raised for young musicians who benefit from Project Music’s scholarships and rigorous programming.
Logan’s connection to Project Music continues to grow. As a weekly volunteer in the saxophone department, he mentors students, demonstrating his commitment to fostering musical growth and giving back. His leadership at Darien High School extended beyond music performance, rallying his school’s Tri-M chapter and student body to make a meaningful impact.
Gabrielle Molina, Executive Director of Project Music, remarked, “Logan’s leadership exemplifies the transformative power of music and community service. His dedication not only enriches the lives of his peers but also strengthens the fabric of our musical community at Project Music.”
Logan’s efforts, alongside the support of Darien High School’s music program and Tri-M, exemplify how young leaders can use their passion for music to create lasting change. Together, they’ve demonstrated the true spirit of the holidays—community, generosity, and the transformative power of music.
